Last night I met “the girls” at the Vietnamese restaurant. Since I was the first to arrive, I went in and got a table for three. The restaurant was busy, and it felt a bit strange speaking French in this atmosphere. The staff spoke French, English, and of course Vietnamese.
My classmates arrived and we all had a glass of wine. N from Uganda had never before had Vietnamese food, so J (from China) explained what she knew about it, and we both helped her order what we thought she’d like. She said she didn’t want to be “basic.”
It’s sweet that our group is called “AF Girls Hangout” on WhatsApp, and I thanked them for including me as one of the girls, when I’m old enough to be their mother. Lol! They flattered me with kindnesses and age was never again an issue in our conversation.
The food was delicious, and we spoke English the entire night, except when we were speaking about our lessons and the prof. It seems I’m the nerd in the group, as these two frequently don’t do their homework until the morning before class! Some things never change.
I’d love to share the photo that the waiter took of the three of us, but they didn’t ask to be part of my public blog, so I’ll share photos of our food, instead.

C’est dimanche! Time for me to do the homework I neglected all weekend. It’s my last week in B1. In Paris, anyway, because I can always continue B1, etc., when I return to the States, but while I’m here, I want some new experiences.
À tout à l’heure!
