I’m a day behind because I’ve been so busy.
Yesterday was Monday, and after a full week, I thought I’d take it easy. Then one of my friends texted. She’s a writer and she wondered if I’d be interested in attending a lecture at Reid Hall in the 6eme arrondissement, so my quartier. Columbia University (NYC) was hosting the event and the two guest authors. Having never been to such an event, I of course said yes.
We met for a drink first, and walked about 12 minutes to the event. What a charming location!
The two authors who would be reading excerpts from their books were Colin Toibin from Ireland, and Anuk Arudpragasam, from Sri Lanka. Their books were The Magician and A Passage North, respectively.

Then, they asked each other questions, and spoke eloquently of one another’s books. These are two prize-winning authors, top notch, and I had never read their work, though I am familiar with Mr. Toibin’s « Brooklyn, » which was made into a movie starring Saorise Ronan.
They were charming, funny, erudite, and had much to share. I was inspired. So, I bought both of their books (supporting The Red Wheelbarrow Bookstore in Paris), and had both autographed.
I was so happy to have accepted the invitation. It was a wonderful evening. And, thought it was 22h when we walked home, the sky was bright blue, and it felt like 18h.
