Moving Day!
I came home late last night from Amsterdam via Eurostar train into Gare du Nord. From there I took two metro lines to Saint-Paul and walked to my (Jennifer’s) apartment, which would be my last night here.

My short-term Airbnb is ready and waiting for me. Like all the places I’ve stayed in Paris, I’ve grown attached to this one, too, and it’s sad to leave.
But when I was riding the Métro last night – wow – everyone was in their phones watching le match de football because France was playing and the score was 0-0. This is World Cup – and I’m in Europe!
Wearing my still-damp trench and duffel, I exited the subway and began my short walk. As I approached the apartment, I saw tables and chairs outside and realized – oh it’s another party downstairs. Another art show. Music was blaring, and there was a tv screen showing “football.” The bar was open, and someone was tending to it. Albert (owns/runs this complex) saw me walking and immediately ran over and pulled me into the party. I stood there, curlier hair than I’ve ever had in my life, damp, but smiling – and couldn’t help but join in the festivities.
Unbelievably, it came down to penalty kicks! We all gathered round and screamed with each score – or moaned a little. Suddenly, it was over and France had won!
Allez les bleus!
I went to bed late and turned off my alarm, planning to sleep in. Jennifer did the same.
I packed this afternoon for the Airbnb, my new apartment before my stay with Luigi around the corner.
I’m a bit worried about my suitcase situation as my big bag would be overweight if I were traveling my air. I’ll need to sort things out before my departure. I had bought two sweaters and some pants – you may recall! There are some keepsakes, too. It all adds up pretty rapidly, even if you swear you e been judicious in “buying” new things. It’s Paris!
I also packed some groceries I’d purchased – so I’m leaving Jennifer’s with more than I arrived with.
Yikes!
More later…
