Today should be in the picture dictionary of PERFECT DAY. There are no words to describe the temperature, light breeze, sunshine – and now plop that down in Paris and you get what I’m trying to impart.

I just came from my French tutor session and I am exhausted. Not just because I had 90 minutes of nonstop conversation en français with her – but on the heels of a very busy, very French, and very late last night.

Me in the middle – between the doctor and the kid!

How late? After 02h00 – when even the métro is too tired to roll. And, punctual as ever, la Tour Eiffel had gone to bed two hours earlier after her final two key curtain call. She is just stunning.

so yesterday was long. It began with a tutor session, which, by the way, are ideal. I am not wasting time doing what I already know and studied with grammar, and I don’t have a room full of different accents speaking French (I know I have an accent too!), and I don’t have to share the teacher’s time. It’s intense, and challenging, and just what I need. I have to add, that my teacher, Blandine, is excellent.

David is texting – wanting to meet for dinner again tonight. Not sure I can keep up with this guy. Mr. M.D., and 2 PhD’s who speaks I think, 5 different languages.

By the way, if I didn’t say, the Olympic Flame in the sky is magnificent. I couldn’t wait to see it, and it is just other worldly. Magical. Like a lot of things in this city.

As I type, sipping my cocktail, I’m noticing that traffic is slowly returning to pre-Olympic times. The circle around La Bastille is busy with buses, cars, and small trucks/vans. It’s still quiet, but not as silent as it’s been.

I have plans tomorrow to meet with Matthias, the young kid from the ATFrenchies club. Later, I have my tutor session, and then plans with Hélène.

I should probably be napping. But, it’s Paris. lol!

Out late with David – this might be his last night in Paris now that the American gymnastics events are finished. He said today was a rough day for the gymnasts – male and female! But they all celebrated the other winners. They know each other. It’s so cool.

We enjoyed a meal and conversation here at Le Marché – un restaurant dans le 4ème.

And then we took the métro to see the torch again from a different angle. But everything was blocked off access-wise because 3×3 basketball was live at the moment. Just ending maybe.
