Les Cérémonies d’ouverture ! 🇫🇷

I exited my building to camera crews and about 40,000 gendarmes and military – and seriously, my entire boulevard was lined with police and security vehicles – I lost count.

Currently on my second métro en route to my Opening Ceremonies venue. easy-peasy so far. Again, subways are empty. Everything is so controlled and you are allowed access to where your tickets say you can go. My apartment is near a bridge – hence the police/security. And I am literally living at the border of the black zone.

Long walk – but what are the odds that the route took me past my first Parisian apartment.

My first apartment building in Paris – Saint-Placide

And…I’m in! I was right at the front when the gates opened.

Pont Alexandre III

I was at the front when they opened the gates, so that was cool.

Also, because I had a bottle of water in my bag, the gendarmes made me drink some of it in front of them to prove it was water.

In my seat. Amazing. No words.

Row 6 on La Seine.
I got lucky – again – they handed these out and I just happened to be standing there. Very grateful. 🙏🏻

They handed out ponchos when it started to rain. But it’s Paris. It has cleared again. lol.

It rained. And then it rained. lol! The crowd got into it.

Raucous in the rain!

And proud…

Omg – La Marseillaise 🇫🇷 – what an anthem!

Blurry – but happy

      1. A major time difference here in the US, LisaH, so where I’m catching a glimpse of some Men’s Volleyball competition and Women Cyclist competition this morning on the television, you may be enjoying other exciting Olympic action unfolding in real time. So happy for you and everyone else in attendance at such a popular worldwide event. Enjoy!

      2. Sounds exciting, LisaH, so happy for you and others enjoying the action in real-time. From what we can determine from those of us watching over here in the USA, some of the spectators in the Olympic Village have umbrellas in tow, so hopefully you are bringing one along (the Paris, France weather forecast is calling for a 98% chance of rain today) Stay dry, hydrated and enjoy the exciting action today.
